瘦素(Leptin)是由ob基因編碼、在脂肪組織中生成的一種脂肪代謝調控產物,在代謝和調控體重等方面發揮重要作用。它通過下丘腦中的瘦素受體發出信號,降低食欲,增加能量消耗。在外周組織中,瘦素能拮抗胰島素信號傳導,增加脂肪酸氧化,減少胰島β細胞的胰島素分泌,并促進生育。它在脂肪細胞中的表達可以被其他脂肪因子如IL-6(刺激)和TNF-α(抑制)以旁分泌方式調節。瘦素缺乏的小鼠表現出嚴重的胰島素抵抗、肥胖和生育能力下降,所有這些都可以通過外源性瘦素給藥而逆轉。
